FLEXIBLE MANUFACTURING AND TOOLING
A major truck manufacturer had a part design that was tooled but wasn’t working. With no time and a limited budget to fix it, they were out of options. We set up a meeting and offered a solution that was simple and low cost. The engineer liked the idea but didn’t see anyway he could get an approval without a part to test and his meeting was in a few hours. With him waiting in the lobby, we were able to program, cut, form, and validate a sample in twenty minutes and sent him back with a solution in hand. He was the hero of the meeting and the simple solution worked, we began producing the modified part immediately and bridged the gap with fabricated parts while a small modification was made to the hard tool. We shepherded the transition from fabrication to the revised stamping and the update was invisible to the end user.
